Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsYay! I broke my dryer yesterday.
I was doing tons of laundry, washing bedding and clothes. I was putting in a load and thought to myself, hmm...this is probably too much clothes at one time, but put them in anyway. It was bothering me, so 15 minutes later took out about 1/3 of the clothes. Too late. Next time I checked on them, they were cold; no heat coming from the dryer. Fried the heating coil. It's only about 3 years old, and it could be worse but I am so mad at myself for being so stupid.
I confessed to my husband what happened (hey I could have said the thing went on it's own) and he wasn't mad; said the part should cost around $100. I try not to sweat the small stuff, and luckily I was on the last load of 4, but wouldn't you know my daughter wet the bed last night. Great.

(12,272 posts)A friend of mine broke her dryer that way, I didn't really know that too much heavy stuff might do that until then. Great that you have an understanding husband who can fix it. I keep considering a clothes line, but it would only be useful 2 months out of the year, so I put it off

(5,909 posts)So right now I have her comforter and sheets hanging over the ledges (I always dry all of our comforters that way) and I would really like a clothesline because it's greener and I love the smell of fresh air clothes....however that would be a violation of our homeowner's association, so can't do it.
Yeah, I've got a good guy...he's pretty laid back...usually.

(13,421 posts)It has got to be some kind of corollary to Murphy's law, I swear! If it wasn't a wet bed it was a cat horking up a wad of partially chewed cat food in the middle of the bed spread...
I echo the suggestion of line dried laundry if you can manage it. Saves wear and tear on the clothes and it is environmentally responsible.
