To Die with a Thraw

From the Scottish “Deith-thraw”. Contortions of death are regarded by the uneducated with superstitious horror. To die with a thraw, a look of pain, is indication of a bad conscience, or having led an ill life. If a person was secretly murdered, careful observation of the corpse would find the thraw reversing itself and the visage of the corpse would denounce the perpetrators of the crime.
