But when I worked Grocery Stock some people were buying these regularly as they did not collect dust.

(18,497 posts)Even in the store they were more than a regular chicken.
I'm thinking maybe someone was feeding them to snakes or something.
Because we had to restock regularly.

(18,497 posts)And I doubt people without a fridge would have the funds to pay $10 for gelatinous chicken in a can.

One time when my daughter was in Girl Scouts, her leader did some kind of food/cooking thing where the girls had to take in food they had made for a pot luck. She took in a fresh spinach salad with strawberries and almonds with a sweet vinaigrette. Very basic, and one of her favorite ways to eat spinach to this day.
One of the other girls took in a can of chicken and dumplings and opened the can, dumped it in a bowl, and microwaved it. The kids were all freaked out about that salad but thought the dumplings were just great. When the troop leader asked my kid what her opinion was, she said she thought the salt levels in the chicken were too high, and the textures were off.
We'd been watching Top Chef and my kid must have been modeling Padma that day.

(53,339 posts)She hadn't been here long when she decided to impress her husband by making an American dinner. But when she got the product home from the store and opened it, she scooped the contents out looking for the chicken pictured on the label but all she found was a bunch of white stuff.
Of course, what she thought was a chicken dinner was a can of...
