Its official: The blobfish is the ugliest animal in the world. There was a vote, so it has to be true, right? I guess this might lead a sane person to ask: Why are we voting on the ugliest animal? Also, what the heck is a blobfish?
Good questions.
According to the Guardian, 3,000 people voted in an online poll in favor of giving the blobfish this dubious distinction. The campaign was run by the Ugly Animal Preservation Society (!) and the goal is to draw attention to the needs of our less cuddly and fluffy, but no less endangered, animal cousins.

Blobfish
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The blobfish (Psychrolutes marcidus)<1> is a fish that inhabits the deep waters off the coasts of the Australian mainland and Tasmania. It is sometimes known as a deep sea fish.<2> Due to the inaccessibility of its habitat, it is rarely seen by humans. However it turns up at moments of great importance, such as the God giving Moses the 14 Commandments, the resurrection, Mohammed first realizing inventing his own religion could be a good political tool, and when Kraft's took over Cadbury's. The blobfish's appearances at such events have caused many to set up a religion, with the blobfish as deity. The blobfish's representative here on earth is Mr Blobby.
According to a scientific survey, 92% of married men admitted they would leave their partners for a one night stand with a blobfish.

"animal lovers" but who only like the cute ones. He is a true animal lover, more than anyone else I know.
