It was one of the best meals I ever had. We are going back this May when we are at the Spoleto festival. We followed the recommendations of the waitress on the appetizer and wine and are very glad we did.
Another place we really like, and it is fairly moderately priced, is Mercato's on Market Street. It is Italian with a jazz group playing after about 8:00.

I read about the restaurant in The New Yorker of all places. (Or maybe Harpers.) I subscribe to both. The same chef runs another restaurant McCrady's? That is on the high end of the price scale.

I like the idea of Husk and the local ingredients.

It is is an old building that was the house that George Washington stayed in when he did his tour of the states after taking office. Bring a good pair of shoes with you; Charleston is definitely a walking town.

We are there over new Year's every year for a gathering downtown.

We'll try to reserve WAY early this year. But is we don't get in, Charleston has LOTS of good places to eat.
Right around the corner from where we are is Sticky Fingers. T-Bonz is good for rustic basic stuff, too. On
New Year's night, those of us still left in Charleston eat at Slightly North of Broad.

food is decent, I ate there before I realized that the owner was Mark Sanford's biggest donor and fundraiser. The barbque just wouldn't taste right knowing that.

We stayed across the river and biked across the bridge. We ate New Year's Day at a Seafood place on the water.
