I take sugar with it, but never cream. When I was in the Army, drinking black coffee was the thing. It you take it without cream, no one can tell if you sweetened it...

I went to a Starbuck's the other day and the barista asked me how I wanted my coffee.

"Black", I said.

"Say, speaking of black, what do you think of the state of race relationships in this country", he replied.

Actually... no, I just remembered I don't even drink coffee. That was a dream I had.

No way!

Three sugars. Enough cow juice to make it a medium tan color.

Actually, I found that coffee really smells better than it tastes. I like coffee, don't get me wrong. But the smell is intoxicating

First choice: Sugar and cream ( prefer Coffeemate )

Second choice, if no sugar available: Cream

Last resort: Black.

Black with sugar but no cream is beyond disgusting.

It's well known that even one rainy season wouldn't do the trick. It will take several years of heavy wet snow in the mountains for the drought to be broken. That looks less and less likely.

The State government seems to be taking the situation more seriously now, with new regulations. Time will tell.

It's some blend of stuff.

Generally, I prefer most things plain -- single malt, e.g., steak without adulturating sauce. I have pretty minimalist tastes.

Great exchange from NCIS 1st season: Cait to Gibbs: "What do you put in your coffee?" Gibbs: "Coffee."

If it can't climb out of the cup on its own, it isn't strong enough!

If my cup isn't screaming in pain, it isn't hot/strong enough!

Of COURSE I drink it black! Anything else isn't coffee.

Nurse once asked me my blood type. Told her I wasn't sure but I thought it was Premium Dark Roast/positive.

In the morning, I can be hard to deal with until I get the blood out of my caffeine stream.

Half & half, coffee-mate, etc are acceptable when real cream isn't available but I maintain a supply of heavy cream at home. For anyone who may be interested, powdered heavy cream is available but pricey.

Coffee cures many ills and even improves a rainy day.

Do you want the extra shot? Why yes, I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight.

I have been offered the extra shot in a long time. I think the machines are different now.

that ain't coffee.

I prefer it black, thank you very much.

According to Heinlein, there are five grades of coffee: coffee, java, J, mud, and battery acid. I can handle mostly anything up to and including mud, but beyond that I need to add crap to it.

I get up and on my way out the door to work I fill a plastic cup with black coffee and I'm usually finished with it around lunch time. No more caffeine for me after that. I don't care when it gets cold as that just makes it easier to gulp although I do enjoy the hot sips early on.

I used to put a ton of sugar and milk in but the doc said to cut that shit out. I've found not putting sugar in has heightened my taste buds (Found or imagined - either way stuff tastes different in my head). I think I got phantom sugars on my tongue - I gave up sugar in my tea at the same time as coffee and I swear I still taste sweetness in there.

Every once in a while I'll accidentally grab my wife's tea and she drinks it southern sweet so that is quite a shock.
