I believe that when a file is deleted from a solid-state device, it actually is deleted. If you have a magnetic device, the file isn't immediately deleted. Just the name of the file is removed from the directory list and the space used by the file is listed as available to the OS (Operating System). If you get back to it fairly quickly, you've got a chance to recover it. Not so on solid-state devices.

There are undoubtedly others here who have more knowledge than me and if the say I'm talking BS, I'll give them my thanks.

It would be a good idea to crosspost this in the Computer group. You have a much greater chance of finding an expert there than in the Lounge (with all due respect to Loungers). Include the name of your OS and its version number.

This is an older version that is free for Home users. Be sure to tick the box saying you are a home user on the initial screen to launch the program otherwise it will ask for money before recovery. No harm done if it doesn't work.
