That's like going all the way to Rodanthe and not experiencing a night there.

I try not be judgmental but that's some fucked up shit, in my not so humble opinion.

It's prone to frequent washouts from storms.

Best to get to Buxton from the south.

and the fucking hurricanes.

Ocracoke was flooded out one time we were there.

Of course anyone that mixes okra and coke deserves that.

The folks who run ferries to Hatteras aren't that hard-up for cash.

Yet.

ps: Any fucking hurricane that impacts points south of Buxton will also have a negative impact on points north of Buxton.

Alex. 2004.

Tropical storm lurking offshore suddenly took a left turn and built up to a Category 1. No one was evacuated because it happened too fast.

We were in Avon on that trip. Most of it hit us and south of there. Most of the people flooded out were locals on the soundside around Hatteras. Hundreds of campers on Ocracoke lost their cars to flooding.

We just had a lot of wind and shaking for 8 hours. Mostly wiped out screen porches and took a few shingles off on the ocean side. This hurricane made the news nowhere. I did get the commemorative T-shirt.
