(4,299 posts)Easy, since it was 54° when I got up at four a.m.
I sure hope this doesn't mean we will have a 115° August.

(17,997 posts)It's difficult to think warm here. I hope you don't have that extreme this summer but it seems that's all there is any more, extremes.

(14,881 posts)we'll soon back in negative territory once again here in Maine. Then again, the other week when -7 felt balmy in the sun, I knew I'd been feeling some serious cold temps lately.
If your shower water is good a hot, after the flash freeze between stripping and diving under the water, it will warm you right down to the bones. There's few pleasures in life greater than a hot shower on a not quite frostbitten body, lol.

(17,997 posts)I live in an old apartment building. "Vintage" they like to say. There's no heater in the bathroom and the Draft from the window is so bad it might as well be open. Though I have towels stuffed into the frame, the way the window was built those plastic things don't work.
So you get out of the shower and it's FREEZING!
Sorry you are so cold up there. That should never feel balmy!

If I didn't have a small oil filled electric heater in my bathroom I can't imagine taking a shower anytime soon.
You have my sympathy.

(17,997 posts)Thanks. You have it pretty cold there too. Our windchill warning for tonight is -20 to -30

(72,300 posts)I have a big dog who loves to sleep in my bathroom. So, I'm always aware of the area surrounding that heater. I use another one of the same type near my bird cages in the living room. It helps. The gas furnace doesn't go on as often when I turn the oil heaters up a little.
A heat wave would feel nice about now. I want to see tulips.

(51,308 posts)it's been in the single digits at night.
It was 18 when I went running this morning.
Never got above 25 today. That's cold for us.

(51,308 posts)but I'm terrified of lightning.
I don't like temps over 90 either lol.
The coldest temp I ran in was earlier this winter. It was 11.
I'm pretty in shape, but I just wanted to go back to bed when I was done. I usually run for 45 minutes to an hour. Whew, that 11 degrees was exhausting. Then I had to go to work.

(17,997 posts)Just be careful. That kind of weather is dangerous

(51,308 posts)I'm a tough old bird.
My "running" is probably a jog to racing runners.
But I started 30 years ago, and I intend to continue until I can't.

(16,245 posts)And I'm only in NC and it's too cold for me.
(I am serious. There is a job in HI I'm applying for. I can dream, can't I?)

(17,997 posts)Though the people I know who moved to Hawaii ended up moving away. Island fever sets in fairly quickly, especially when it would take you practically a day just to visit home
But I don't blame you one bit. Sick of this weather

(51,308 posts)Grew up in NC and lived in Key West for 20 some odd years. (Very odd lol)
I'm back in NC now, but KW is warm mostly all the time.
Lots of jobs there too. Expensive rents, but I think HI is more expensive.
