I keep hoping that tall leather boots will come into fashion for men, too.

Fashion mavens will tell you that tucking one's boots into the trousers is un-masculine. And there's always the worry over resemblance to Nazi jackboots. But it's a fashion trend I'd like to see, and indulge in.

I have a couple of pairs of old East German army jackboots that I used as costume items in plays as varied as World War II dramas (of course) to Shakespearean costume dramas. I wonder how they'd look on me for street wear.

I haven't walked out my front door in almost a month. Too darned cold!
Back in the day: If I liked a particular shoe maker I bought a few pair. Dan Post, Dingo and Uggs were my favorite boots.

I mostly order my boots on Zappos, Macy's or on Ralph Lauren...that's the brand of all my riding boots I have now.

If you look at Zappos, the price of Frye boots are nearly $300! I saw many pairs I liked, but I can't justify spending that much money.

You would think they would be cheaper, but I guess they are exceptional quality. My Ralph Lauren's had a good run, and the second pair I posted were just under $200.

Thanks, TYY!

and I love having a zipper on tall boots.

The second pair are definitely more classic - typical for competing or fox hunting etc. but usually the tread isn't designed for lots of hiking around especially in bad weather.

So here's sticker shock for you - my husband's riding boots are custom made and usually cost $800 ea. And maybe last two years....thank Gawd it's a business expense!

Strictly for fashion. I rode from age 8-14. My cousin-in-law is an instructor and opened beautiful stables last summer in Maine and we got a full tour.

They are absolutely gorgeous and spared no expense...she boards too.

My daughter said she'd like to start but the ones I've looked at in our area weren't impressive.

Holy cow on the real riding boots!
