The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsJust finished a conversation with the writer of the letter.
She is in her 80s and seems to rely on a friend for help a lot but she confirmed the two downstairs from us are basically running the show and everything was fine until the secretary/treasure moved in about 7 years ago. This secretary/Treasure has caused all this problem.
She explained that she doesn't think the others in her unit even bother to vote anymore. Which is bad but it explains how these two and flip flopping the rules like they are.
Now here is the issue. She seems to think the other three condo don't vote anymore. Those in the other unit wouldn't care about a pet in someone's unit.
Also it has been 3 days since the vote has been taken and none of the results have been listed. Is that normal? When vote are done shouldn't results be made public? Are we in our rights to know what vote results are?
Now the other bad news is that no one else wants to take the responsibility of the offices.
So anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?

Sounds like dysfunctional 'democracy.' Of COURSE no one wants to take responsibility of the offices.
Who ENFORCES the 'rules?'

I am thinking of writing the president asking the voting results be made public.
This is the second time we have been asked to vote then heard nothing.
If the condo fee should be raised three amounts where given.
If money would be raised to "fix" the parking lot
The allowing of cats, birds, snakes, and fish to be allowed to visit.
It seems the two down stairs are basically changing and enforcing rules they want to.
I am beginning to think we might need to get a lawyer involved.

Don't ASK for the voting results, DEMAND them (politely.) And inform all the other owners you have done so.

(23,272 posts)Dont wait. Borrow $ for your wife to see a different competent therapist if you have to, and get that piece of paper.
She's suicidal diabeticman. Any therapist worth their salt will have no problem with helping her/you with this.
Either that or move now to a place that allows pets.
Your condo association is clearly not going to budge on the issue so you need to outmaneuver them by getting that certificate or moving.
Save your wife. Now. She needs professional help.
Forget about who voted. That really doesn't matter now anyway Imho. You aren't going to be able to change the result and you need to focus on helping her immediately.
