6 months after the last live show (high school gymnasiums) they were signed to a record contract, and headlined at the Los Angeles Forum, but general admission was $6.50 so I blew it off..

Get off my lawn!!!!! 👴

They had an amazing following as a backyard band. Every show was packed with hot surfer chicks, but I was just a cheap little bastard way back when.. I mean, jeazs, pot was a whole $10 bucks an ounce back in the day.

Wildest. Raunchiest. Over-the-top. Pure-Debauchery & Decadence tour, EVER.

And I toured with everyone who was anyone back in the day.

Best fun I ever did have! Yeeee hah!

Roth & Eddie were serious fun, Anthony was an uptight d**k.

I only saw them once on the fair warning tour in LA. I bought tickets for the reunion but had to give them away.

certainly that's where they gained much more acclaim. Then all of a sudden they were without a lead singer and began looking for one. They reportedly considered Patty Smyth of the Scandals...Here Patty is joined on stage by Eddie Van Halen:

I dislike about 98% of the 80s hard rock/metal guitar that followed it it's wake, but you've gotta give credit to Eddie for blowing the lid off of that stale British electric blues that everyone had been doing for the last decade.

impact on guitar playing. When I first got into Van Halen in 1978 or 79 I was just a kid and didn't understand too much about rock history. But I think your comment is spot on.
