Cat Lovers i need your help. Mines been coughing

has any of yours ever done that quick small coughing thing over and over. its like a cross between coughing and sneezing. its not the coughing up a lung or dinner type cough. just small repetitive tiny coughs.

mine will do it for about 2 minutes or so then wont do it again till hours later.

ive seen plenty of other cats do it before so i dont think its that deadly or anything.

i took some video and am going to show it to her vet on my next trip.

respiratory thing going on maybe?

she starts doing that 'gollum gollum' noise and her whole stomach is heaving and bam it all comes up.

this is more just tiny repetitive coughs almost like clearing your throat instead of heaving up 12 beers.

when he tried to eat (but nothing came out). For a little while I thought he had something stuck in his throat. He had a respiratory illness, and was having trouble eating because he couldn't breath through his mouth when he ate. Antibiotics helped him right away.

Coughing could be a sign of an allergy. My cat was bothered by the dust from clay litter. I switched litter and he hardly ever coughs anymore.

My cat has it. If you read up on it, you will find all kinds of owners experiencing angst over it. Not that it's so dangerous (although some sources say it is, but I gather that is just if it's untreated).

Go to youtube and search cat asthma. You will find lots of videos of people posting cats with asthma.

I took my cat to the vet and she did X-rays. She showed me these little tiny bubble-type things, but there weren't very many of them. I had a hard time imagining that that minor aberration was causing her to cough. Sometimes the cough is just a cough and sometimes it sounds like there's congestion there.

She was given a steroid shot and this decreased the coughing considerably, but not 100%. When I asked the vet about it, she told me that it was probably just the way she reacted to medication. On the next shot, I imagine we will try something different.

I've done quite a bit of reading on it. Apparently it is somewhat rare--one source said only about 1 in a 100 cats get it. Don't know how credible that source is, though.

There are some homepathic remedies on the 'net, too. One is coconut oil. I tried it. Hard to say if it helped.

In an attempt to solve the problem, I've upped my vacuuming and I'm changing her food from Fancy Feast to Halo and that Blue stuff. I've tried cooking her food, but she won't eat it. We've cooked organ meats for her, too. Nope, nope, nopity nope.
