7-Eleven’s Romantic Valentine Dumplings Look Like Buns
The heart-shaped buns look like, well, buns

In honor of Valentine’s Day, 7-Eleven convenience stores in Japan rolled out a collection of special pink steamed buns. It was a lovely gesture, until Twitter users realized that all the buns looked like, well, buns.
According to Rocket News 24, the romantic, pink steamed buns are full of chocolate sauce and designed to be shaped like hearts. From overhead, they do look perfectly heart-shaped and Valentine-appropriate. However, when the buns are lined up on the shelf in the steamer of the friendly local 7-Eleven, they face shoppers head-on and look for all the world like a big shelf of puffy pink butts.
One Twitter user posted a photo of the steamer full of buns this week, and as Rocket News 24 described it, “The photographer is getting a six-cheek parade of butts.”
It is unclear if the buns looking like cartoon butts are more likely to help or hurt sales this season, but it would probably behoove 7-Eleven to stock the buns with the pointy ends forward, at least until the end of the Valentine’s Day promotion.
