What is the most interesting piece of headwear you have? It could be unique in looks or style, or it could tell a compelling story, or . . . ?
I, with a butch buzz cut, own a snood, knitted for me by my sister. I know, not very interesting.
You?
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,869 posts)and another weird knitted hat with something that looks like tentacles. But I never wear these or any other hats because they squish my hair, and with a hat on I look like an even bigger dork than usual.

(22,845 posts)but it got lost at my daughter's wedding reception last year. I found it at a garage sale. The people selling it had traveled in that part of the world. Very gaudy colors with gold trim and a tassel of gold strings.

(4,851 posts)Is an old Yankees Cap. I wear it every now and then. Its old, broken in and has too many sweat stains on it, but its one of the few physical things I really treasure.
I've got some funny lids I've collected too. I have a great Indiana Jones style hate I wear when I do yard work. I have a shark fin hat from when Jaws or Jaws II came out that you wear at the beach to scare people. Its over 30 years old and it still looks in good shape.
In terms of style, I do not have much left up top, but in my youth I once did dreads. I was in college in the late 80s. A girl said she could do it, and this particular girl could have asked me to do anything and I would have done it. She used some sort of bees wax. they looked pretty good. I wore them for about a year before shaving them out after losing a bet.

It comes with radio earphones and attached throat microphones for the tank's intercom.
Although I was a tank crewman in the US Army, I still don't have an American-made CVC helmet. The best places to get one cheap are all privately-owned Army-Navy surplus stores. Most of them are owned by ultra-right-wing wackos with anti-Hillary, anti-Jane Fonda, and fanatically pro-gun signs in the windows. I steer clear of those places.

(55,025 posts)but I look like a fucking IDIOT in it, so I never wear it. Spent a few buck on it too, 20 years ago when I thought I needed a good hat. Now I mostly wear a stupid canvas "bush" hat I got in the gift shop at Petrified Forest about 19 years ago.

(54,256 posts)Black fleece, gray front piece with mascot Seibu Lion (he has human ears?) under" '88 NIPPON CHAMPIONS" over. Gold 'scrambled eggs' on bill.
I was working in Tokyo in early 1989.
My wife and daughter came for a visit.
When they were at the airport on the way back home, there was a group of Japanese businessmen on the same flight. It was their first visit to the U.S.
They were taking photos of each other.
Miz t. offered to take a group shot of them all.
Each one of the dozen or so men handed her a camera.
So she took shot after shot after shot after shot....
When she finished, one of the guys reached into his bag and gave her the Seibu Lions cap.
"For your husband" he said.
When Miz t. gave me the cap later she said "Typical Japanese, the woman does the work and the man gets the reward."

My uncle's French army helmet from World War I that he wore in WWII in the French resistance. Looks a lot like this.
Here he is wearing it in street fighting in Marseille firing a machine gun in the uprising before the arrival of the allies. He's also wearing his father's French Navy uniform from WWI.
