After all the recent trials the group has faced, a slight detour might prove to be the solution they've been looking for.Reminder - Walking Dead at 9pm, then the series premiere of Better Call Saul at 10pm, then Talking Dead at 11:15. I'll probably be dozing off by 11:15, though. Saul moves to Monday night tomorrow, and then Talking Dead returns to 10pm next week.

(56,828 posts)the last trailer seems to be Wiltshire Estates - coming into the game much later than in the graphic novels. If I recall, Wiltshire was right after Tyreese & his daughter joined Rick and the gang, and before Michonne and the prison, and even before Hershel's farm.
Wiltshire was in the wintertime in the GN, though, in the middle of a rare Georgia snowstorm. They look like they're in summer in that trailer. While Georgia doesn't have New England winters, they do have nights that get below freezing each winter.

(102,283 posts)OMG, the casting. While I have a hard time seeing any child as anything but innocent, this little girl played CREEPY so well--even during the early days in the prison. OMG, what a great casting job they did with her!

Since the marked trail he was following has run cold now that the cannibals are dead, the only thing he has to go by is the Washington letter, which may or not have any relevance now that Eugene's secret is out.

No clue how it will actually play out, though.
Baitball Blogger
(46,720 posts)Eugene said that he believed that there was a facility there that was his best chance for survival. If no one has a particular destination in mind, they might stick with the plan simply because he has proven himself as being more intelligent than the others.

I actually got so into last night's episode, I moved from my wet bar where I have my laptop sitting and went to the sofa to cuddle with a pillow and blanket while I watched.

(56,828 posts)it was too late for me to watch live... to me, it seemed pretty obvious that Noah's little gated community was not overrun by walkers, but by humans. Walkers would not have chopped up the bodies like that, nor set fire to everything.

Baitball Blogger
(46,720 posts)I think the point is that the writers have decided that there is more excitement in the shows where the characters are moving rather than settled down in one place. I have a bad feeling that Z-Nation may be affecting their judgment. Truth is, Walking Dead worked because we were committed to the characters. Z-Nation is just a game of Grand Theft Auto. We don't care who dies, just make it spectacular. While Walking Dead is a story where the suspense increases BECAUSE every decision matters.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)On them being settled down vs on the move.
I'm not sure about Z-Nation affecting them all that much, though. Agreed that nobody really cared about the characters on Z-Nation all that much.
Lex
(34,108 posts)Just don't feel very invested in the characters anymore or what happens to them. Some mildly good stuff has to happen soon, or at least something that feels like a more complex story-line than just dying and killing.
dr.strangelove
(4,851 posts)Z-nation got below average ratings, which was okay for SciFi to order a second season, but no one shoudl be trying to model it. It averaged a .5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.42 million total viewers. the first part of Season Five last fall averaged a 7.2 in the 18-49 and was grabbing 16 million viewers (more for the premier and finale).
I think the writers are telling a story which will involve some movement and some stationary points. Every time they reached a stationary point, it ended badly, so there is clearly something in the mind of the characters about whether its worth it to stay still or to keep moving. the prison fall was just about 4 weeks ago for them. Its not like they have been wandering for 12 months like viewers wait each season. Most fan timelines have the prison fall at about day 503 or 504 post virus and last night's show was about day 531, so its less than a month since they left the prison. They may still be feeling antsy about fidning another home, as Rick and Michone discussed last night.
Last night was a gift to fans of the show. You learned a great deal about a character before he died. You learned what was in his head. I ranked it as one of my favorites. I hope we get a lot more like that. I do not want deaths made extraordinary. In that world, people just get bit when their back is turned to look at pictures.
Baitball Blogger
(46,720 posts)extra cautious until a house is de-zombified.
It was a gimmick to have Tyresse distracted by a photograph, as if it never occurred to him that Noah could have a brother. He was looking so intensely at the photograph that I thought it was a long lost son.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)not having the area completely cleared.
dr.strangelove
(4,851 posts)Noah talked about twin brothers and I thought he assumed Noah had a twin brother. Noah was taking care of his mom in the living room while T found his twin brother. I think once he saw the picture of both twin brothers with Noah behind them, that he realized his error, just a second too late though.
Clearly Tyresse was distracted by the peace that was in the old world. He had a much harder time letting go of the old world and joining this world. Its sad, but appropriate that his flaw in letting go lead to his death.
DebJ
(7,699 posts)more of the characters more often. It seems only a very small number are actually there in any one episode.
Last season was so stretched out this way I wasn't even remembering who they weren't showing any more.
Makes me feel too disconnected from the characters to have them absent so long (and a 1 minute walkie-talkie
conversation or a cameo doesn't count).
On edit: Also, when they are on the move, there is too much fighting imminent dangers as well as too much
abandonment of character development and interaction. That makes the show seem like a video game, blech.
