not much really caught my eye today and we didn't buy passes for anything (husband didn't want to), but here's a few shots. i wanted to get a pint in one of the taverns, but they were all closed (husband was relieved about that).
outside the blacksmith
didn't make note of what this was
the market house
the court house (i think)
the armory
the gate to the governor's palace
artsy stuff
and i'm pretty sure the husband wanted to leave me here

(12,132 posts)I seek out the touristy things and do them on purpose. We always try to find a horse and carriage tour of historical sites when we can. Everything from silly tourist hats to driving poorly and getting lost. I live in ORlando and see tourists all day every day and feel like they shouldn't be the only ones having all the fun.
And the number one rule I insist on when we go off - never eat anything I can get easily at home. I even google to find out an area's specialty and make sure we get that at least once and I try to eat only at mom-and-pop/local only restaurants. IF I HAVE to eat fast food, I'll try to find a chain we don't have here.
Looking forward to more pics and I hope y'all have great fun doing silly touristy things!

(10,642 posts)There isn't anything like that here...if it was built in the late 1800's-early 1900's, and is still standing, it's considered "old." Everything else is long gone.

(50,130 posts)There's a parkway that goes between the scenic sights, and it goes to both Jamestown and Yorktown. What a beautiful area. Just love it.
Have you heard any fife and drummers? That gives me goose bumps there.

(35,687 posts)I love Williamsburg. Your photos are terrific, although I admit I am still laughing at the last one!
I live in an old structure, something like what you have pictured. It's eternally charming.
You really have an eye, I must say. The artsy stuff and the tree pic that follows--wow!
If you have a minute, see my thread on the photography forum:
