I just read an article about the bit part actors in the Star Wars movies, that were famous for other movies too.
Like "Porkins," the fat X-wing pilot who's fighter got shot down over the Death Star:
He was the guy who lied to Indiana Jones about "top men" in "Raiders Of The Lost Ark"
And the crooked cop "Eckhart" in the 1989 "Batman" movie.
And take a look at this still from "The Empire Strikes Back," yes, that is John Ratzenberger, "Cliff Clavin!"

(66,388 posts)I was astonished when I discovered that Alfred Molina is British.
He was convincing as a Peruvian in ROTLA.
And his American accent is flawless...

(56,828 posts)but, I think his father was Italian and his mom was Spanish. I just remember seeing the beginning of Raiders recently, and I looked and said, "holy $h!t! That's Alfred Molina!!" Had seen it a dozen times before and never realized it until recently.

(26,330 posts)Of course, I forgot he was a republican. Dead to me. Ptooey:
On January 17, 2010, he appeared and endorsed Scott Brown for the United States Senate at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Ratzenberger campaigned for Republican Josh Mandel of Ohio for the State Treasurer position during the 2010 election and on January 10, 2011, served as master of ceremonies for Mandel's swearing into office.
In response to the 2012 Aurora shooting, he said "Hollywood has to, at some point, admit that what they produce does affect the minds of people.... If you just want to shock 'em... society will pay the price for that at some point."[10]

(12,816 posts)C'mon, when conservatives complain about "Hollywood" they're really talking about the whole of the movie/television/media industry -- which: a) isn't just physically located in California, the Republicans' giant liberal bogeyman; and b) includes RADIO. And who dominates the radio landscape with programming that can "affect the minds of people"? Rightwing talk and corporate-owned entertainment.
Mr. Ratzenberger, you are correct in saying that "society will pay the price for that at some point."

(6,261 posts)My wife and I watch a lot of old movies and TV shows, and we're always trying to outdo each other on spotting people we know from later movies and shows. I'm not actually particularly good at it, as my false positives outnumber my correct ones by a good margin.
IMDB is great for this.

(6,261 posts)Just spotted Lt. Gorman (from Aliens) on Midsomer Murders. Credit Mrs. Obvious for that one.

(26,109 posts)of the series, but I really came to appreciate how those shows employed older actors, too. Mighta kept a few from being penniless in their retirement.
Midsomer is one we gave up on, though.
It started bothering me about the head blows being shown in slow-mo so frequently.
Dr. Strange
(25,921 posts)the guy who played Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford)--he also played Han Solo in Star Wars.

(82,849 posts)Indiana Jones' father is played by the guy who starred in Darby O'Gill and the Little People. I think he was also in some spy movies.
Dr. Strange
(25,921 posts)although that may be pushing it, calling Zardoz a "spy movie".
