The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and kittens <<cute story>>
People are people and here's a truly "kindler and gentler" side of the Prophet (PBUH)
From http://ummlolcats.wordpress.com/2008/03/01/prophet-muhammad-pbuh-and-the-cats/
Prophet Mohammed advised the people to treat their cats (pets) as a member of their family, and by this he meant to take a good care of them. Not only by words, but also with his actions he was a very good role model. For example: the stories of Muezza, the Prophet Muhammads favorite cat: The most famous story about Muezza recounts how the call to prayer was given, and as Prophet Mohammed went to put on one of his robes, he found his cat sleeping on one of the sleeves. Rather than disturbing the cat, he cut off the sleeve and let him sleep. When he returned, Muezza awoke and bowed down to Prophet Muhammad and in return he stroked him three times. It is also believed that when Prophet Muhammad gave sermons within his household he would often hold Muezza in his lap.

I truly believe Jesus would have done the same things. It seems like these great prophets truly treated the "lesser" among us as the greater. I respectfully say, Muhammed is more "Christ-like" than today's Christians.
BTW -- I have seen my husband to this thousands of times, not only to our kitties (wouldn't move anything because they were sleeping), stopped working because they wanted to play, also refuses to drive under a bird feeder so as not to disturb the birds. And yes, he feeds the outside wild squirrels and the rabbits too (more like protection money to keep them from the bird feed and the plants -- buy hey, it works). I am the world's luckiest girl.
