What's on your list of traditional holiday movies?

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Life of Brian
Home Alone (1 and 2)

...and here's one damn near forgotten from 1979 directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Zemeckis:

1941.

and today we'll do White Christmas and Holiday Inn... I am always a sucker for Miracle on 34th Street (the old and the new version are pretty good). It always gets me when Santa speaks Dutch (or sign-language depending on version) to the little girl and she and her mom just light up... good stuff.

Where else can you see Santa and his elves arm up with assault weapons against endless machine gun toting henchmen and then be saved by Lee Majors with the mini gattling gun from Terminator II?

Also The Bishop's Wife (not to be confused with the Preachers Wife, love you Denzel but you're no Cary Grant)
It's a Wonderful Life, yeah I'm sappy like that
And A Christmas Story.

I have tried to watch the remakes, but they are so over the top I turn them off.

One of my favorites is "Metropolitan." Not exactly a holiday movie but it takes places over the holidays. Reminds me of the seventies and early eighties -- my older brother's Bible was "The Official Preppy Handbook."

If you get frustrated with the holidays, nothing beats Billy Bob Thornton screaming and shouting obscenities at kids in the mall.
