A Christmas dinner menu

from 1660-

I was going to try to give it a try, but was flummoxed about the pottage [thick stew] of caponets - young castrated roosters. Be damned if I am going to ask Alex, my butcher, if the roosters were castrated.

I think I'll stick to the spiral cut ham and cheesy potatoes.
