The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy folks threw me a surprise graduation party today.
My wife told me we were going to a restaurant and meeting my cousin there to drop off some shoes that she had ordered (my wife works at a shoe place). While we were there, my sister was supposed to come up and drop off her daughter. Jen and I were then going to take her to the movies while my sister did some Christmas shopping.
It was all a ruse and I was totally unsuspecting.
When we walked in there was a room off to the side where friends and family had gathered. They all yelled, "Surprise!" My wife said she had been planning it since September. She has a hard time keeping a secret so I knew this really was hard for her.
My sister handed me a beer as soon as we walked in. That's my wife Jen in the picture with me:

I hope you had a wonderful time today...
Sure looks like you did!
Wish I could have been there...

(18,890 posts)Some stuff has happened here in AZ that has been reminding me of MFM a whole lot. Your graduating would have made him so happy and proud to know you. As are all of us Loungers.
You have accomplished so much in full view of this place, you are such an inspiration. You are smart, creative, strong, honest, ethical and such a wonderful example of a good human being.
Congratulations, graduate.

(9,983 posts)and just being you! Bonus points from me, for being a fellow enthusiast of bib overalls! Looking forward to some of your work being published to a wider audience - a modern-day Eric Hoffer? a Stienbeck of the Highways? Secretary of Transportation in the Warren/Sanders Administration? The sky is'nt the limit anymore!
