Judge: If Richmond councilman’s junk returns, he goes to jail

http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Judge-If-Richmond-councilman-s-junk-returns-5939709.php

Outgoing Richmond City Councilman Corky Boozé must go to jail and pay a fine if he allows junk to accumulate on property he has maintained for decades, a judge has ruled.

Boozé admitted that he had been in violation of a 1995 city ordinance by keeping “inoperable, wrecked or dismantled vehicles or vehicle parts” on the property at 22 Carlson Blvd., Judge Laurel Brady of Contra Costa County Superior Court wrote in an order Wednesday. The property was kept in conditions “that were not neat, clean and sanitary,” the judge wrote...

Boozé lost his council seat in November and will attend his last meeting Dec. 16. It was unclear whether the session would be as raucous as past meetings, where Boozé has clashed with Councilwoman Jovanka Beckles. Beckles has been a target of harassment during council meetings because she is a lesbian.

Councilman Tom Butt, who will become mayor in January, agreed Saturday that the property has “gotten a lot cleaner. When you take BART into Richmond, it goes right over his junkyard. I’ve been noticing that it’s been cleaned up substantially. It appears he is now in compliance.”

Oh, that kind of junk!

Richmond, CA is a blue-collar city of about 100,000 north of Oakland that is dominated by a gigantic Chevron refinery. Booze was among the councilmembers that were in Chevron's pocket. They got their asses handed to them by the progressives in November, despite Chevron funneling $3 million into their cause!
