episode is just over half-over. Carl is a fucking idiot.
edited to add at the end -
Holy Shit! They killed off Dale. He lived a lot longer in the comics.
Boy, Carl is going to be having nightmares forever.
Looks like the final 2 episodes will be good ones.

(56,829 posts)since this probably fell quite a bit.

(1,518 posts)However, in the preview of next weeks episode I thought Rick said "DALE and Glen, come with me" or am I hearing things.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)I was completely surprised - Dale was around for much longer.
Of course, in the comics, Sophia is still alive as well.

(22,239 posts)If you already think getting scratched by a zombie can turn you into one, I'm fairly sure having one stick its hand in your guts counts.

(11,550 posts)It has been very interesting to see how the creators of the TV series have been diverging from the original story line in the comics. I guess that's a good thing -- it keeps those of us that have read the comics guessing.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)He goes out similarly to how he went out in the comics.
Sophia is also still alive in the comics, and the group picked up Tyreese & his daughter and her boyfriend before they got to Hershel's farm as well.

(13,661 posts)Dale's gone?
Wait a second. I had him confused with Glenn.
What the heck? I saw part of it when they were all in the farmhouse talking about getting rid of the other guy - Randy? But the show so disturbs other members of this household (and the zombie images freak me out) that I switched away from it.
Short recap, anyone? Thanks in advance.

(13,661 posts)Appreciate it. Will go back there for a more detailed recap later... how did Carl attract the walker?
Liberal Veteran
(22,239 posts)Carl, who apparently also needs to be chained up to keep him out of trouble, stole Daryl's gun and went traipsing through the zombie infested swamp lands nearby. He sees a zombie stuck in the mud and decides to tease it with rocks and run around seeing how close he can get to the zombie.
Zombie manages to pull one leg free of the mud trying to get to Carl and almost manages to rid us of Carl permanently. Carl drops the gun and gets away and doesn't bother to tell anyone their is a zombie near.
Apparently zombie managed to pull himself the rest of the way out of the mud, thanks in no small part to Carl egging the zombie on.
Zombie disembowels a cow, then does the same to Dale.

(27,711 posts)...remember his racist brother Merle who got chained on the building in the first season, and who Daryl was seeing visions of when he got hurt in the woods looking for Sophia. I think it might actually have been Merle's bike originally, but it's Daryl's now.

(5,604 posts)Daryl says so when their stuck on the highway, and he retrieves some antibiotics for T-Dog. I get a feeling Merle will be back for his bike though before the end of season.

(27,711 posts)...don't think Merle will be heard from again.
Joe Shlabotnik
(5,604 posts)so he's one tough bastard and not proven dead. He might have assumed leadership of the group nearby.

(422 posts)I think that Merle will be a part of the other group, which will be led by the recently cast character of the Governor. This causes drama for Daryl, who will have to decide whether to stick with/defend Rick and the others, or re-align with Merle and his stronger albeit nastier group.
I have also heard rumor that Michionne shows up at the end of this season.
peace,

(56,829 posts)about Michonne.
I hope both she & Tyreese make an appearance soon, though, either in the finale of Season 2 or at the beginning of Season 3. I mean, Tyreese & his daughter and her boyfriend appear before they got to Hershel's farm in the comics.

(12,047 posts)And Dale would still be alive.
He was bigboy badass enough to steal a gun, he should have used it and killed the thing.....that's what I was waiting for
Now the guilt trip. Go run crying to mom, you little twit, you're as stupid as your dad.

(17,742 posts)On the one hand, they are so paranoid about "protecting" themselves that they're about to kill a completely innocent young man who poses absolutely no threat to anyone. On the other, they are so oblivious that they allow a young boy to go wander off in the wood by himself and nearly get eaten by a zombie. WTF?
I just do not get the story line about them wanting to kill Randall. What did he do (besides fire back at those who were firing at his friends--he just came upon the scene how would he know what had happened?)? And when did they close the doors to who "their group" is?
I bet Dale is glad to be away from those zombies, and I don't mean the walking dead, either. Or rather, they are *all* walking dead, even the so-called non-zombies.
Sheesh.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)it took comic book Rick a lot longer to violate his "we don't kill the living" oath...

(27,711 posts)Baclava
(12,047 posts)Of course they're playing up the moral angle - but it's Daryl that beat out the admission that Randal's gang is into gang-raping little teenie girls while making their parents watch.
I vote for Daryl for mayor....Rick is weak. Shane is insane with lust for Lori.
Damn, only two more episodes?

(13,661 posts)Darly Motherf*cking Dixon definitely seems to be in possession of most of the smarts. Why have they sidelined T-Dogg so much?
Baclava
(12,047 posts)just end the dude already - unless Hershal is going to offer up another of his daughters for him.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)Other than one or two episodes early in Season 2, he has barely had a line of dialogue.
Joe Shlabotnik
(5,604 posts)creates one farcical situation after another. I'm waiting for Rick to flip-flop again, and then eventually say "but walkers are people my friend".
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)Hershel had mentioned cows wandering to his farm & breaking down the fence. Are the cows being driven off a nearby farm because it's been overrun with walkers? (or, the other group?)
Brigid
(17,621 posts)I liked Dale.
Joe Shlabotnik
(5,604 posts)It was just a matter of when. At the point in the episode where he sates that he doesn't want to live in 'that' kind of world, it was obvious he wasn't gonna last to end of the show.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)Because Dale plays a major role for a while in the comics - he even has an affair with one of the group. So, I kept expecting him to pull it out in the long run.
charlie and algernon
(13,447 posts)It could get VERY dark from here on out now that the show's conscience is dead.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)They've made the show less dark than the comic it is based upon...

(25,704 posts)One may not agree with the conscience but it is clear where the sympathies lie.

(8,926 posts)excellent episode though
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)Henry Fonda in 12 Angry Men is anything but angry - he was calm, cool & smart while slowly winning the others over to his side.
Dale was angry & blustering and only won over Andrea in the end. He would have lost if Carl hadn't snuck into the barn.
charlie and algernon
(13,447 posts)Randall is Henry Gale/Ben from LOST. A guy you think is innocent and imprisoned wrongly, yet he always seems to be watching and paying close attention to what his captors are saying. When he was trying to manipulate Carl into letting him go, I was having MAJOR flashbacks to LOST.
In LOST, you had Jack and Locke arguing over whether Henry was good or not.
In WD, it was Rick, Shane, and Dale.
In LOST, you had Sayid beating the crap out of Henry, trying to get information.
In WD, it was Darryl beating the crap out of Randall, trying to get information.
So I won't be all that surprised if Randall turns out to be the leader of these "Others" that are somewhere outside the farm.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)Randall is too young to be a leader, I think. Maybe he's the leader's son, cousin or nephew?
I don't think there is a Randall in the comics, but my suspicion is (swipe below for spoilers)
Is that these 30 heavily armed men could be the ones who establish Woodbury - a walled/fenced group of homes that are under the rule of a man named The Governor. The people from Woodbury play a major role in the comics after the group leaves Hershel's farm.

(6,163 posts)That kid is trying to be a bad ass.
So now Carl has caused loss of a food source after Hershel said it will already be a lean winter, they have one less gun, less ammo and Dale is dead.
Oh, and Randall was allowed to escape in the chaos and will probably rejoin his original group of super bad asses and that particular issue could spell
real physical danger for the group and threaten continuing existence on the farm.
Yes, I realize it is just a movie series and as I sit here I am laughing at myself for being mad at a child actor.
Oh brother...I am going to bed!

(8,692 posts)Carl needs a swift kick in the butt. Poor Dale. At least Andrea started showing signs that she's not completely evil- yet.
Daryll needs to step it up and take a more active role. Not just because I'd like see more Norman Reedus...
