already charging a hefty delivery fee.
I'm having a washer delivered today.

(102,387 posts)Here's one for you... Do you tip for take out?
I tip (but less than what I would for sit down service for major restaurants), but for some reason, I sort of balk at Chinese restaurants, those that pretty much specialize in take out. Sometimes I do and sometimes, admittedly, I don't, since it doesn't seem like anyone else is either.

(12,132 posts)Been eating there for years and they always give me extra stuff so I throw a couple bucks in the jar. But if i'm out of town and not likely to come back, I either don't or maybe just a buck if I think they did an especially good job or I had a huge order.

(4,851 posts)The Store charges you for these big guys to move your appliance, but they do not get that money. The store pays them a fee for their job. A tip is to the worker if they do a good job and if it is common enough for it to be considered a part of their compensation. I always tip delivery people. I will throw a twenty if the there are multiple heavy items needing a lot of work, and they do a good job. Maybe $5 for a big box like a microwave. I try to be a good tipper.

(29,047 posts)last month we purchased a new fridge and stove during a customer appreciation event (free delivery, installation and recycle). The two delivery guys had to take the doors off the hinges in order to get the appliances in and out of the kitchen. They were at the house over an hour. Gave each $20; one said he'd probably waste it on betting on the Vikings.

and tipped last week when they couldn't get box springs upstairs and had to return them to the store. They tried hard, and were pleasant.
