The Great American Burger Chain Map

http://assets3.thrillist.com/v1/image/1357755

https://www.yahoo.com/food/mapping-americas-most-popular-burger-chains-102982398426.html

Culver’s

It was kind of Wisconsin to share the ButterBurger with the rest of the country (or a good portion of it at least). While the rest of the country may love it, though, Wisconsin REALLY loves it...

In-N-Out Burger

Powerful in Cali and completely dominant in Nevada, In-N-Out has even made inroads among notoriously Whataburger-loyal Texas. Also, it seems some people in Oregon don’t mind a road trip South for a Double Double Animal Style....

Whataburger

It’s no surprise that Whataburger reigns supreme in Texas, dominating most of the state, with scattered areas of influence across the rest of the Southern half of the country (and a particularly dominating presence in the Florida Panhandle). Also, it seems some folks in the SE corner of Utah are engaged in some Whataburger-related border jumping....

White Castle

Harold and Kumar would undoubtedly be happy to see White Castle’s strong showing in New Jersey. Also, until the Colonel decides to get into the burger game, they’re looking rather formidable in Kentucky, as well as the Chicago and St. Louis areas.

2. We just started getting Culver's in MN in the last ten years

and they are REALLY good. Best thing that ever came out of Wisconsin.

But In 'n' Out remains in a class by itself. The first place I go whenenver I get to Vegas or LA is the nearest In 'n' Out. Burger Bliss.

And nothing ever tastes as good after a night of drinking than White Castle. YOu pay the price the next day, but it is worth it, IMO.

to cover a product introduction a couple of months ago. While in the Houston airport between flights I ate a a place called Bullritos that blew Chipotle into the next dimension. Apparently they're a TX only chain, at least so far. Know anything about them? DEEEE-lish!!

We've got a lot of Mexican food - all shapes and sizes. Our local fast food chain is Taco Cabana. But we've got so many cheap mom and pop places which are just as fast and better than the chains.

7. Or, more accurately, the most popular burger chains of Foursquare users.

Most people don't announce where they are eating on social media. I'd love to see a map based on the actual overall numbers.

At least by my observations, their patrons tend to be older people and and parents who don't use social media, like Foursquare. They either don't care for it, are too busy with their kids, or they really don't want to announce to the world, "Hey! I'm over here! Nobody's home. Go rob my house!"

10. Whataburger seems to be having their asses handed to them in Florida

I've seen numerous closed stores, both in NE FL and SE GA. No Culvers in Florida that I've seen and In-N-Out is so far only in the DFW area, outside their CA, AZ, NV and UT homelands.

I'm hoping In-N-Out expands into my state.

I guess they're too local.

We have Five Guys popping up all over. They're good but they give you too many fries!

We love it out here in Fargo, too! Too bad it's way on the west end of town and I live on the east side (Moorhead).
