Yes! Though perhaps not how you might imagine. You can't put more of your brain to work. Your whole brain is working all the time, even when you think you're just being lazy. What you can do is make it work more productively.

(6,670 posts)The real problem is that our organism is a MUCH BETTER JUDGE of what to use our brain for than our conscious mind, in the vast majority of situations. Propaganda takes advantage of this by using our organism's responses AGAINST our conscious mind, setting up situations in which the organism's response is actually inappropriate.
So the process of stopping the intake of pollution will eventually produce results, while the process of attempting to process it all will not.
Most "positive thinking" is based on this. Napoleon Hill said that it's easy to become rich - all you have to is WANT to become rich MORE than you want anything else (meditating on wealth and power help), and then REMEMBER, in each daily decision, what you REALLY want, and ask yourself if this activity forwards that long-term goal or not.
It works, pretty much guaranteed. It has REALLY interesting side effects, though.
