It's very nice to be able to say that. There probably aren't too many places I could go on the Web and start out with "Hello, friends" and genuinely be warmly received. It seems like it is thought to be cooler to offer disdain. You have to be tough to be on the Internet. Oh, bullshit. I think the people who talk tough in anonymity are more likely cowards in reality.
I am half way through my last semester in college. I am worn out. It's a long-term kind of tired that you get from trying to do too much for too long. However, I am going to get there. I clocked 57 hours last week at work and I'm taking three classes a semester. I've been on that schedule for the last 2.5 years. If it doesn't kill me, my wife probably would have if I hadn't have applied for graduation this December.
It's surprising what people can accomplish when they want to make a better life for themselves and their loved ones. I'm happy that I'm fortunate enough to live in a society where it is still possible to move up the socioeconomic ladder. You don't have to be stuck here in America, but you do have to be aware enough to recognize an opportunity when you see it.

(10,418 posts)I'm still not very polished as a public speaker, but I no longer have that crippling fear of getting up in front of an audience. There is still fear, but I'm managing it a lot better now.
I had to go to the school's communications center and record myself giving a speech. I then had to watch it several times and write a paper about my qualities as a public speaker. It was an enlightening experience. It was also a very uncomfortable experience. But that's how you grow. Not much development occurs in the static mind.

(10,418 posts)I hope all is going well there. I don't get on DU much no days because I'm so busy, but you can be that in December I'll be here to toot my horn.

(149,698 posts)I hear you about being worn out. You are now a short-timer, and it looks like forever.
But it isn't.
And you will make it.
You have an intelligent mind and lots of determination, and these really matter!
I'm so proud to know you.

(41,991 posts)I went back to college as an adult and got a graduate degree too, so I know what that tired is like. You have a lot to be proud of! And in a few years you'll look back with satisfaction.

(10,418 posts)I'm actually completing an undergraduate degree. My wife has said that if I keep going for a graduate degree she'll divorce me. She's feeling a little neglected, but I keep telling her it's only for a few more months, then I'll get back to adoring her 24/7.
