ohmydog have I been raptured?

So I got a recipe the other day for crockpot pot roast from a lab assistant. She brought in the pot roast she made and I tried a bit...heavenly.

I picked up a pound of stewing beef on sale yesterday and replaced the 4 pounds of chuck roast or whatever with 1 pound stew and with 3 or so pounds of potatoes, carrots, onion, mushrooms, green beans, corn, onions, garlic, and celery, plus modified the base recipe a tiny bit.

oooooohhhhhhhmannnnnn...

and I just came home from a quick trip to the food store. Yesterday my section of the coffee shelves were empty. Still empty today, but tucked way in the back behind some other crap I found what I've been watching for for months: Natures Place Fair Trade Organic Peru Sunrise. When I tried it the last time they had it, it was the best I'd ever had (except maybe the boiled coffee I had with the Grand Canyon sunrise...).

food nirvana...

in the bottom of the pot. Sprinkled with 1 pack of au jus seasoning and 1 pack of ranch salad dressing seasoning. topped with 3-4 pickled banana peppers. Topped by 1 stick of butter. Crockpot on low for 8 hours.

My modifications: 1 pound stew beef chunks, about between 1/2 and 2/3s of the seasoning packs, 1 finely chopped onion and 2 crushed garlic cloves w/ ~1/2 cup of banana pepper rings, and 1/2 stick of butter total.

After 2 hours I added 1 pound of chopped potatoes (purple of course), 1 pound of chopped carrots, several sliced mushrooms, 1/4 pound of so of green beans and a couple stalks of chopped celery and a little water (maybe 1/4 cup) because with the smaller amount of meat there was not as much jus for the gravy.

Continued cooking another 4 hours. Next time I'll add the green beans and celery later, since they were overcooked.

After it was finished, I added frozen corn and peas to round out the vege mix.

I like the mix of au jus, banana peppers, butter and ranch, very different. I will add the veggies I like (no peas and corn doesn't like me) but otherwise, this sounds like a winner!
