She was helping do a charity benefit in northern Massachusetts, and I had never seen or heard of her before.

I was totally mesmerizes by her singing, and asked her if she had any recordings out. She said oh no, she was nowhere near that stage yet.

That fall, as I entered college in Philadelphia, there was a concert by some guy I had never heard of named Cat Stevens. The opening act was Bonnie Raitt, who I was only too eager to see again. I was the ONLY one there who had come to see Bonnie Raitt. No one else there had ever heard of her.

That has all changed somewhat, of course..................

my closest friend from my Chicago years - he died a couple years after I'd left, and I only found out he'd been sick AFTER I found out he'd passed on. This recording was one he'd play on the jukebox whenever we hung out at the neighborhood tap:
