I finally saw "The Wolf of Wall Street."

Great acting. Great writing. Great directing.

Reprehensible characters. Pretty much all of them. The main character was probably as repulsive as anything you'll see in the movies.

I swear, Martin Scorsese has a knack of making very good movies with zero likeable characters in them. I felt the same way about "The Wolf of Wall Street" as I did about "Goodfellas"--objectively speaking, a very good movie but I just hated every single character in both those movies. So I had a hard time connecting with it, despite the film's success.

So awful you just couldn't help watching. I was going to turn it off, but I wanted to see him get thrown in jail. You're right -- I don't know how Scorsese does it.

but I thought this was one of his weaker films. It was pretty good, but not like some of his other greats.

Curious about the story, when I went to Barnes and Noble on my lunch break I figured I would take a quick look at the Jordan Belfort confessional that the movie was based.

I immediately figured it would be in the "True Crime" section of the store.

It wasn't. It was in the "Business Profiles" section of the store, right next to all the other business people who have written books about their secrets of success.

Kind of a sad commentary on the situation, wouldn't you agree?

Great cast....listened to Jonah Hill on Howard when it came out and he really did get punched in the face by the drug dealer.

Martin wasn't happy with the fake punch, so Jonah took a real one.

Leo was great in it.

I agree that the acting was fantastic, and the characters all sleazeballs. I did like the scenes with all the blow, and the short cameo by Matthew McConaughey was great. I do like Leonardo and wish he would win an Oscar, just seems he is always up to against some great movies all the time and just can't get there.

Peace

Had my class not insisted. We were in a section of the class about sales ("sell me this pencil&quot . They were worried the movie would shock me and yes, it certainly did. The language, the sheer madness of the characters...

I think the most memorable scene for me, in addition to the car driving scene, was when he was on the yacht and the FBI came to visit. It cracked me up that he was living that stereotypal "dream" instead of his own unique vision. And he thought it was so cool, but it was really just so pitiful.
