I just love Thomas Kinkaid paintings. And they are so hokey.
And I especially just love the ones that light up in the windows and street lights and stuff.
And the same thing with the Xmas trees that light up.
I know that every serious art critic in the world hates Thomas Kinkaid but I just love his stuff. It's so kitchy.

(66,377 posts)A sparkling red wine.
The wine critics of the world look down their noses at it as the soda-pop of viticulture. And it was featured prominently in those cheesy 'Chill a Cella' wine commercials from the 70's.
But I love it...

Delightfully cheesy.
PS...I'm also a fan of Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry. Not sure where that falls on the "drink from the bottle in a paper bag vs. drink from a real glass" continuum, but I love the taste of it.

(33,688 posts)Manischevitz, well.....
And speaking as an experienced tippler, getting even moderately sozzled on either of those is an invitation to the Mount Everest of hangovers. Sweet drinks are the WORST in that respect.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)blackberry brandy mixed with beer that gave me a monster hangover when I was 17, oh so many years ago.
But being older and wiser now, I stick to having maybe a shot glass worth of the sweet wines. Well, even the coconut rum, to be honest.
Just enough for a bit of warmth in the muscles

(12,132 posts)I thank them for their appearance on Letterman a while back. It was fun watching him try to comprehend their act. And he got several days of use out saying "I fink you freeky and I like you a LOT". I don't know why but it just made me laugh every time he'd say it.
So they have contributed to the overall happiness of the world and for that, they are OK in my book.

(18,868 posts)I am so appalled by those people. And yet they are kind of fascinating in a sick sort of way.
I feel the same way about the whole Kardashian clan. I don't watch their show but I just can't get over how totally dysfunctional they all are. And Kim has to be the worst dresser in the whole world. Her clothes just look awful on her.

(6,336 posts)But if you remember that show Wife Swap (another trainwreck piece of trash that I could not help but watch), I would LOVE to see a Wife Swap between Michelle Duggar and Kris Jenner.
I would love to see how the Kardashian girls and Duggar girls react to each other's mommies.

(21,020 posts)Every so often when I'm in some place that sells greeting cards and I have time to spare, I start reading the funny ones and end up laughing like hell.
I've even attracted the attention of people who wander over to the card aisle to see what's going on. And sometimes people already in the aisle will suddenly remember they need something in the foot care section...
There's a benefit to the store, though, as more often than not, I'll buy some of the funnier ones for my home stash of emergency greeting cards.

(14,275 posts)I am forever trying to listen to parts of my music collection that I have not listened to for years. If I really like something I play it all the way through regardless. But if the song is just ok, I search the list for something in the oldest year on my list.
Last week I was on vacation and it took nearly the entire week to listen to all the songs I had never played before and the ones from 2009. Right now I am poking around for songs I have not heard since sometime in 2010. And sorting by date last listened is cheating. I have more than 30 full days of music to do this with.
This is more enjoyable than my previous failed attempt to listen to all song titles A to Z. That got old around the time I got to the middle of the B's.
lovemydog
(11,833 posts)I bet you have a lot of varied music in your collection.
I tend to go more specific. Like I'll get on a Talking Heads kick or a Prince kick and maybe mix it up with some other stuff when I use my shuffle & go for a walk.

(35,675 posts)Only with cookbooks and other books in my library. I have this practice where I take a book a day and take something out of it, like a tip for compost or, if it's a cookbook, make a recipe from it. Maybe it's a poetry book. If so, I read a poem.
After I've used the book, I put an orange sticky dot on the spine. After 30 days, I switch to the blue dots, taking off all the orange dots. The purpose of the dots is just a visual reminder that I already took something out of those books for the month.
Otherwise, why take up all this space with books? Books should be used.
However, this is OT.
