I'm having eye surgery tomorrow. UPDATE

Last edited Tue Sep 16, 2014, 08:45 PM - Edit history (1)

This should be the final one.

Gonna go into my right eye and attempt to clear out all the floaters that have been interfering with my vision since my cataract surgery last year. If successful I should be able to see well enough to begin driving again.

It'll take place at the Indianapolis Veteran's Administration hospital. They're pretty competent people there, and have been patient and careful with me. Still, it's hard to not get butterflies- if it's NOT successful I could permanently lose the sight in that eye.

Vibes wouldn't hurt.

Update: I went through a whole lot of hassle to find a driver for this expedition, and did a search for a decent hotel for a couple days (we didn't want to stay in a no-tell motel), got here and checked to our room, and then called the hospital at the appointed time to get my tee time for tomorrow. Only to receive the word from the nurse that I had been bumped from the surgery schedule. New date: the 7th of NEXT MONTH.

She swore she called and left a voice message on my phone. I played my messages three times but didn't hear such a message.

I'm afraid I got a little bit nasty with her. I didn't really mean to, but when it came down to it I told her what I thought of the situation. A few hours later I feel a bit bad about it, but damn. It screwed up the schedules of more than just one person, and cost me precious gas money. I was NOT a happy camper.

So I'll collect and save all your vibes and use them next month. Unless they bump me again...

I had cataract surgery in March so that I could pass my eye test for my driver's license. Thankfully I did pass. I had some floaters, but after a while they disappeared.

I wish I could get that surgery. I think it will go "swimmingly" for you and what a relief to be rid of floaters! Good luck.

I think you were entirely right about your tone of voice with this person. Maybe she called the wrong number, or worse, maybe she really didn't call.

I'm so so sorry.

So, October 7th is your new surgery date. I'll remember.

They had better remember it too.

If she did not reach you personally, she should have kept trying until she did. This is serious. Not like some routine visit. UGH!

I hope you still have some hair left to tear out in case they do it again.

More to the point, I hope you can keep your sanity until they really get around to treating you.
