(24,369 posts)I have been a Floridian on and off all my life and there is one thing that I have come to understand;
Sooner or later, every body of water larger than a mud puddle will have an alligator in it.
Yes they will climb chain link fences or dig under them.
They get into spots you can't believe they could.

If they are too small, they don't seem to bother, though I could be wrong on this point.

(3,065 posts)on Interstate 75 running between Naples and Fort Lauderdale. The road is aptly named Alligator Alley.

(24,369 posts)The "Tamiami Trail" - the road that crosses the Glades south of I 75.
Used to see them alongside the road and even crossing it all the time.
Edit to add that both highways have undercrossings for wildlife though.
