The Les Paul Show
The Archive has it's own player, though you can also download the shows. The first two are basically the same episode (I'm guessing the first one titled "Audition Show" was what they used to pitch the show idea.) After that, some cuts within the episodes are repeated, but other than that, I do recommend a listen.
Also, despite the time-period, these shows were recorded in stereo, so you can appreciate even better all of the fantabulous playing by Les, and Mary's great voice

(11,833 posts)Thank you kentauros.
I saw Les Paul once, at a club that he always played in NYC. Can't remember the name of the club. It was expensive and a two drink minimum. Of course I was hoping Jimmy Page or Jeff Beck would be sitting in, 'cause I'd heard they & many other of his students & players of the Gibson Les Paul would sit in. Alas, no one else sat in. But wow it was so great seeing him play a short set and tell a few stories!
Here's something of theirs from youtube, too.

(29,414 posts)Wow, I'd love to have been able to see him. Sure, I've seen some great musicians in my time. Les Paul, though, was a pioneer of the art of electric guitar (and effects)
I'll take a look at the video now. I seem to recall another one that was filmed in their home studio, much like the recordings they made for the archived shows. If I can find it, I'll post it too.

(11,833 posts)I noticed from that video that Mary Ford was quite a good guitarist. Look forward to seeing what else you post.

(29,414 posts)There are many videos of them at home, though from some of the comments, they may have been lip-synched. I don't know that for sure as you can't always trust YT comments. Still, there's plenty of material there to be viewed
I'm going to have a look on some of the music blogs out there and see if I can track anything else down for us

(11,833 posts)I love looking up stuff on youtube so I bet you're having fun. I posted that above link to an old buddy on facebook, who turned me on to Les Paul. He's gonna love it.

(29,414 posts)I'm still going through the Old Time Radio collection and have found some old radio shows to go back to, such as The Green Hornet (I had the 1960s version lunchbox as a kid.) There is such a wealth entertainment available on the Internet Archive. I'm glad it's there for us all
