Some times he would walk into the room I was in and just give me a big wordless bear hug. It was always when I felt like I was breaking. He died a few months ago, but I know that if he were here he would be giving me his hallmark hugs because of it. It tears me apart and comforts me at the same time.

His hugs will always be with me. I'm grateful to him for that.

I can't even imagine a similar scenario (or don't want to). The nice part is that you got hugs from even when he was older. I wish you the best.

I talked with my mom on the phone today and at the end of our nice conversation told her 'I love you mom'. She said 'I love you too.' I really enjoy that!

where you could hear the (death metal) band practicing a block away down the street. to tease them I asked "Aren't you going to give your mom a hug good-bye?" and they both did it with no embarrassment whatsoever. and it was still daylight out.

just a few days ago, told me this: "My brother and I both know that the best of everything we are is because it was your hand holding us safe and shaping us." They are both 30-something, and were raised by me, a single mother struggling to keep us sheltered, fed, and to finish school.

Nothing is better than sons.
