At night....did I mention this is at night?

The poor dog has flopped in front of the floor fan, blocking my air, and i do not have the heart to move him.

Up here, rain is usually cooling to some degree.
But I remember when I was in N. Fla. it just made steam.

Not on the east coast that is...sea breezes towards Orlando brought showers there. They say this weekend will be more rain coverage at 50%. Love it when it does, cools the house off, helps the air conditioner.

I lived in FL x 30 yrs, last 14 in Central FL…

At least when I lived costal in FL, we had breezes. Not so, where you are.

Yeah… water up, dixiegrrrrl… or come to SW PA where there's all kinds of water, just as long as the oil and gas industry don't frack it up.

Almost like clockwork...3 pm. Our agency head sent us home about then, cause they all knew a lot of water was coming.

When I moved to the area, in early spring, I remember wondering to myself why the drainage ditches on both sides of all the roads were SO deep..
and so wide.
I soon found out.

We had em in our back yards when I moved there in 65…

Funny, but those still I keep in touch living in FL don't experience the same rain pattern like you and I remember. Hmmm…

it is forecast for 100 tomorrow. We have been able to keep our air conditioner off most of this summer and almost all of the nights. Finally summer

and could not believe the humidity.
At the time, I was living in Mobile. Realized that humidity there was nothing like Macon.
Macon held the awesome humidity memory right up until...I went to Houston one summer day.

Now that we are getting some serious temps here, I STILL am not complaining about the humidity.

It's just as bad there as it is here in South Carolina. And, I'm not just talking about the heat.

air conditioning
and very low cost of living.

Also happens to be a beautiful place to live, lots of green, not at all crowded except in the few cities.

The hot is usually about 3 months of the year, the winters are mild, and normally there are sunny skies most of the year.

When it's 85 or 90 at night and high humidity and you don't have A/C, you don't sleep. There is no evaporation, therefore no evaporative cooling. You have to have AC too take the water out of the air to make it tolerable as well as lower the temperature.

The only reason people have moved to the Sun Belt for jobs is that central air and car air conditioners make it bearable. You stay in your air conditioned house and go to your air conditioned car. If you go outside for any length of time you might pass out from the heat.

Yesterday our heat index was 105.

Right now it's almost ten o'clock, 85 degrees, 95% humuggity.
