Mistletoe

Mistletoe was once recommended as a medicine for convulsive disorders, and was also used for children with hernias.

Many herbs and medicines depend on the the just-right dosage for premium efficacy; however, I doubt the mistletoe was efficacious at all. It was more of an anecdotal body of evidence supporting its usage.
