A BMI below 18.5 is considered underweight. A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered a healthy weight. A BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight. A BMI of 30 and above is considered obese.

(3,539 posts)I'm considered morbidly obese. I am also borderline diabetic and high BP. I'm having a Sleeve Gastrectomy on September 23rd. to loose over 100 lbs. My doctor says my health problems will go away once the weight has come off. My daughter has a BMI of 52 and she's just starting the process of seeing a nutritionist and psychologist as part of an adult weight management program. It looks like you could stand to gain a few pounds but then what do I know.

(11,795 posts)BMI is tricky. Football players in shape, or body builders often have high BMI because of all the muscle, but their body fat % is low.
