Think I owe my cat some tuna?

So, today was his first trip to the vet. Sadly, I did not have a carrier, and my friend who said she would drop hers off for me today wasn't able to.

Vet is about 15 minutes away. Most of the ride over, he spent underneath my seat. I then had to move the seat to get him out of the car. We then had to sit in the crowded waiting room with lots of dogs. Then he got weighed, his temperature taken (oh, the indignity), three needle jabs, and medicine down the ears. (I was able to purchase a used carrier there that someone had left for $10.)

However, he'd apparently had enough by the time we were done with the car ride home. He peed all over the carrier. And himself. So then he got a bath when we get home. And I still have to get a flea pill down him. .... And next week, he loses his jewels.

I feel like a terrible kitty momma, even if the $200 that is getting spent on him these two weeks should say I'm a great kitty momma.

Someone just needs to tell that to my cat, who is hiding under the bed and won't come out.

Or, whatever his favorite treat may be. I think he'll get over it when he gets hungry enough.

7. He finally emerged, and amazingly ate the flea pill without any problems.

Still watching and waiting for any vomiting related to the Comfortis.

He did get a nice can of wet food when he decided to poke his head out.

I had a diabetic cat and when we were trying to stabilize his insulin, he had to go to the vet like three times a week. It was horrible. But we are good kitty moms because we are doing the hard stuff that keeps them healthy!

once that loved riding in the car. I took him for a ride at least once every few weeks. Try taking him for short rides to see if he will get at least de-sensitized to the car and not associate it with the car=vet= pain.

12. Start giving him treats and tossing them in the carrier w/door open.

That way he'll give you less grief going in it for the trip to the vet for the jewel job.

15. This sounds weird, but sans a cat carrier a pillowcase works nicely.

They can't see anything so they stay calmer and you can carry them around. Of course, don't put two kitties in the same one. Also, in the event of a fire, don't bother to look for your carrier just grab pillowcases.

Must be something like covering a horses eyes to get it out of a burning barn. My main concern was keeping the kitties cool in the pillowcase.
