Okay, where's that thread about not-great movies you'll watch over and over?

I FINALLY REMEMBERED ONE!

Whew! Glad I got that off my chest. It feels like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Yes, I'm a Romy & Michelle fan and I'm proud of it! Post-Its forever!

I think I'm done now. That's all I've got.

3. My problem is that all the ones I can think of were successful

From Fight Club to The Usual Suspects to Primal Fear, all were excluded by the criteria of the original thread.

So when Romy & Michelle popped up on cable Monday night, I was ecstatic that I finally had one that qualified.

She plays some trailer park girl who dreams of a better world and ends up becoming a Flight Attendant. It has an amazing cast with Christina Applegate, Kelly Preston, Rob Lowe, Mike Myers and Candence Bergen but it's really not that great of a movie. Yet I watch it all the time on Netflix. I have no clue why. Maybe because when I was a kid I wanted to be a flight attendant but that never happened.

My major squeeze in HS became a flight attendant, and made a career of it. When I saw her sister at a reunion years ago I learned that she was still doing it.

Off topic, one movie I can't say I watch every time it's on is French Kiss. But I love the opening scene with Meg Ryan. It's the first 2-1/2 minutes of this vid...

My brother is very afraid of flying and I used to work for NTSB, so that scene is especially funny to me.

11. I have no idea how serious that movie was supposed to be.

I mean, I know it was a comedy, but how serious were we supposed to take her "dream" of being a flight attendant? Were we supposed to be laughing with her, or laughing at her?

The Ten Commandments was the highest-grossing film of 1956 and the second most successful film of the decade.

The Ten Commandments won the Academy Award for Best Special Effects (John P. Fulton).[54] It was also nominated for Best Color Art Direction (art directors Hal Pereira, Walter H. Tyler, and Albert Nozaki and set decorators Sam Comer and Ray Moyer), Best Color Cinematography (Loyal Griggs), Best Color Costume Design (Edith Head, Ralph Jester, John Jensen, Dorothy Jeakins, and Arnold Friberg), Best Film Editing (Anne Bauchens), Best Motion Picture (Cecil B. DeMille), and Best Sound Recording (Paramount Studio Sound Department and sound director Loren L. Ryder).[54] Paramount submitted the names of Yvonne De Carlo, John Derek, and Debra Paget for the supporting player categories (even though they received star billing in the film) at the 29th Academy Awards,[55] but the actors did not receive nominations.

Charlton Heston's performance as Moses was ranked as the 4th Best Performance by a Male Star of 1956 by The Film Daily's Filmdom's Famous Five Poll.[56] Heston was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama[57] and later won the Fotograma de Plata Award for Best Foreign Performer in 1959.[58]

Yul Brynner won the National Board of Review Award for Best Actor for his performance as Rameses.[59]

Cecil B. DeMille won many special awards for the film. He received, among others, the Los Angeles Examiner Award,[60] the Boxoffice Blue Ribbon Award for the Best Picture of the Month (January 1957),[61] the Photoplay Achievement Award,[60] and The Christian Herald's Reader's Award for the Picture of the Year (1957).[60]

The Maryland State Council of the American Jewish Congress awarded the Stephen S. Wise Medallion to DeMille for "most inspiring film of the year."[60][62] Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Edward G. Robinson, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Nina Foch, and Martha Scott also received awards for their acting.[62][63][64]

The film was also included in several of the annual top ten film lists, such as those featured in The Film Daily and Photoplay.[60]

I'm starting to remember a good movie in which an older character actor stars as a hitman trying to retire. A great performance by a guy whose name nobody knows. I can't even think of it at the moment, though I should know it.
