I got a bill from a docor I saw two years ago. $3.00 is what they want...

I called and asked what the heck? They said they had a new billing system and were doing a mass billing for all errors from previous years. This was a dermatologist where I went and also took my son to have a wart removed. I paid a little over $400 at the time and never got any bill after that.

THREE FRICKIN DOLLARS?

Uh, no. If this were a legitimate amount for a portion of something I had not paid, I would have no problem paying it. But now it's the principle of the thing. They are going to write it off.

I'm just venting. This isn't the biggest thing happening in my life or the world right now.

I hate stuff that is illogical, and this is illogical. They are spending more than $3 dollars tracking you down. How does that makes sense? Argh.

they know I'm not trying to get out of a bill. But yes, it is illogical to even print the bill and mail it with a return envelope for three dollars.

If they forgot or didn't bill you for something and do it later, there is a time limit, which I think is four years. I received a bill almost four years after the fact and called my state insurance board and they informed me of the rules. I wrote the billing company a letter informing them of that fact and never heard from them again. I would check the law in your state.

but I don't think this amount is even legit. If they back bill hundreds of patients for three dollars, it could really add up. Many insurance companies have time limits from when you can even file a claim so I know they are out of luck with the insurance company. What's even more odd is the insurance company always sends a notice when a claim has been filed or even when an adjustment has been made so this doesn't seem like an insurance error. It seems like for whatever reason, their new system is kicking out statements for old accounts. It did not even have the date of service on it!

I kept it for a while, and thought of framing it. But in the end I cashed it. Good thing, or the entire U.S. budget would still be out of whack! I can just imagine an army of federal accountants poring over the books every year trying to figure out why the nation's accounts are off by two cents. The FBI coming around with questions and the Department of Homeland Security having me on all their terrorist watch ists...Whew! I think I dodged a bullet there.

they never wrote it off and this was the old days when they would send you a statement. They sent me a paper statement for the longest time. When I finally called and asked them to send me the penny, the statements stopped.

Ya gotta love paperwork errors that are just downright dumb.

PS I think you are some kind of list just for posting here. I think we all are!

For all I know, the new system kicked this out without a human seeing it.
