(5,946 posts)It is an Italian town and has lots of the Italian fireworks - those white ones with the boom. \
I shut the doors and windows, I turn on the air conditioner even if it is cool, and the TV is on loud. We survive andI had a dog taht I kenneled once and what ever they did, she came back terrorized with the sound of loud noises. We have also had some killer storms around here where my ouse got hit by lightening and blew out most of my appliances. The dog lived, and like I said, I made enough noise to distract her. even if it was a battery radio. Just keep the doors and windows shut.
Personally,my dog has taken to waking me at 3 am, and I let her out because who knows, shampooing the rug is harder. But I am going to have to stop it. She is getting more and more demanding of stupid things. It was the dog before her who was terrified of loud noises.
You could consider the thunder shirt, it is supposed to work for a lot of dogs.

(32,975 posts)I did put my sleep tee shirt on her a little bit past, tied tight at her hips. I went with her outside at so she could do quick business, in the rain. I really really do not like those people now.

(28,394 posts)It seemed to calm her down. In fact, it calmed all three of them down! LOL It didn't last very long though.
You can also get tranquilizers from the vet.
