Grow your own.

I never post in The Lounge, but this seemed to be a good start. It's certainly not GD material.

I'm enjoying a lunch made with our own organic lettuce, our own organic heirloom tomatoes, bread locally sourced from a local bakery...the big chain stores (Whole Foods included) can kiss my ass.

Rant off. That is all.

Our gardening skills are weak, and the weather is too hot, but we did bring enough tomatoes in to supplement this year. Got some black beans coming in too.

But I like baking bread a lot more than I do working in a garden.

I've got a lot of green beans ready but still no black.

I will ask her later.

The only info I have is she planted late March or early April and she harvested some of them a week or two ago.

Snap peas, sweet peas, green beans, you name it. We'll be donating some to the food shelter. Far more than we could ever eat.

One of the other gardeners joked about his $12 cucumbers. Sure, when you account for the work and effort it would be easier to just go to the supermarket. But I know exactly where this stuff comes from. I bought the seeds from organic gardeners, I tended the soil, I know every step of the process. And yes, it makes them taste so so so so much better.

I have tomato plants growing in flower pots. Next year, more pots ... additional varieties of veggies.
