I sprinkle some on the carpet and let them zone out-- then, when they're tired of it, I vacuum it up. I'm assuming there still remains the tantalizing odor of catnip on it, though!!

(22,000 posts)On a kind of related note...last month I started drinking this herbal stuff I got from a department in the university I work for. I happened to spill a little on the floor and wiped it up. A little later one of the cats was smelling it and rolling around. My wife pointed this out and we both noticed it was where I spilled the stuff. I asked one of my students about it and he said the herb in the drink is from the same plant family as catnip. I've purposely spilled a few drops and wiped it up just to see if cat would do that again and she does every time.
