Bob simply dropped dead (most likely of a heart attack or blood clot) at the relatively youthful age of 11.

Edna, who we'd adopted in her old age, had a hyperactive thyroid (partly controlled by medication) that eventually led to kidney failure and death at age 16.

I wish we had more pictures of both.

Other than a few guinea pigs, Bob was the first pet we'd ever had. We got him as a 10-week-old kitten when I was a junior in high school - technically he was a "mutt" but he had both the fur/eye color and temperament of a Siamese. Very friendly but also quite demanding of attention.
