The DU Lounge

"Hello, DU! The fabulous Friday Afternoon Challenge: MORE Dudes in Cool Threads!"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002348031
I dunno.
Lines between forums in DU# seem to be more blurred.
GD's SOP:
Discuss politics, issues, and current events. No posts about Israel/Palestine, religion, guns, showbiz, or sports unless there is really big news. No conspiracy theories. No whining about DU.
OK.
Just seems like the thread above belongs in the Lounge.
But who would be mean spirited enough to alert on a benign thread like that?

(29,582 posts)That's where the Friday Afternoon Challenge exemption is explained.
Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)really.
Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)still here at DU3.
That guy does a thread like that every Friday and some DUers take offense at having their threads relagated to the Lounge.

(18,219 posts)Who knew!
And don't take my Lounge away! What are you talkin' about there----blasphemy!
Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)confusion... who is offended and why?
me? or you?
I just think the line between GD and the Lounge has become so blurred as to be renderd pointless is all...
Seems I recall there was much gaiety when we arrived here and there was no GD (gasp)
something about a SoapBox as I recall.

(18,219 posts)How soon we forget! Now that was funny----the uproar! OH, THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!
Obviously, neither of us have a problem with the Lounge. But I still avoid posting much in GD......so I must have this feeling that there is still a line I don't want to cross.

(29,414 posts)GD is full of unhappy hipsters, so it's probably an appropriate thread for them
annabanana
(52,791 posts)It's art for art's sake, and maybe technically it belongs in the lounge, but it's been a staple long enough to be grandfathered in...

(82,849 posts)Jeez, LynneSin and I give you people an album a day every weekday, and you're not satisfied. You have to go poking around in GD, huh? Yeah, we're here, we're hip. Get used to it, you unsophisticated, uhm . . . er . . . well, just get used to it!
Wait Wut
(8,492 posts)...when the album of the day is "Boston/Boston". Normally, the "Album of the Day" takes me back to a fond memory of days that I can't remember, but pretty sure I had a good time during. Boston made me wanna become a serial killer.
I demand to be consulted from now on.
HappyMe
(20,277 posts)Don't be talking smack about Boston! I have some happy, blurry memories that were set to that Boston album.
I think.
I'm pretty sure.
Amerigo Vespucci
(30,885 posts)...because I was told it belonged in "Entertainment" and it wasn't a "political" thread.
So the rules apply to everyone or they don't. That fucking thread is a LOUNGE THREAD.

Phentex
(16,334 posts)but from talks in meta, I think many have decided they are okay with that.
At first the hosts were very strict about what was off topic, but they have since eased up and also decided to allow things that had traditionally been posted in there such as the art thread and personal threads. I am guessing the photography contests will resume there once the poll feature is back.
It's a slippery slope. I wouldn't want to be a host there!
Amerigo Vespucci
(30,885 posts)It was a game of "I'm OK, you're OK," except it was "I'm OK, you're an anus."
Phentex
(16,334 posts)Well there you have it!
