(193 posts)3. Quote from Trent about Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt.
I pop the video in, and wow... Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore... It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning different, but every bit as pure.[6]
Now that he's not the wild-haired wild child who poses for BDSM pictures, but is an almost chunky middle-aged guy, I have to say my mad crush on him has waned, but I still love his music. I'm going to have to dig out Downward Spiral now. Oh goodie.
Could be considered slightly graphic, so not posting the pic directly.

(776 posts)5. Trent is awesome.
The song "Capital G" to me perfectly encapsulated the Bush era (and to a lesser extent the Berlusconi era here in Italy).

(8,556 posts)6. I was a big fan of NIN back in the day
Saw 'The Social Network' the other day and was quite impressed with the soundtrack. You could definitely tell it was him.
