I graduated High School in 1978.

Our class at the ceremony had to sing the second verse of this asinine song.
Cliche city.

made it into Dazed and Confused, the soundtrack which consisted of:

sweet emotion - aerosmith
highway star - deep purple
school's out - alice cooper
jim dandy - black oak arkansas
why can't we be friends - war
stranglehold - ted nugent
free ride - edgar winter group
no more mr. nice guy - alice cooper
do you feel like we do (live) - peter frampton
low rider - war
hurricane - bob dylan
i just want to make love to you - foghat
love hurts - nazareth
paranoid - black sabbath
never been any reason - head east
fox on the run - sweet
tush - zz top
rock & roll, hoochie koo - rick derrigner
lord have mercy on my soul - black oak arkansas
show me the way (live) - peter frampton
rock and roll all nite - kiss
balinese - zz top
living in the u.s.a. - steve miller band
hey baby - ted nugent
right place wrong time - dr. john
cherry bomb - the runaways
tuesday's gone - lynyrd skynyrd
summer breeze - seals and crofts
slow ride - foghat

I graduated high school in 1977 and any of those songs (even Nugent's and Miller's which is saying a lot) is better than Styx. IMO, of course. We weren't listening to Styx. We were listening to Foghat, Skynyrd and ZZ Top. As always, YMMV.
