(13,324 posts)When I managed a sub/steak shop in State CollegePA, I was routinely lectured on the nature of the "true" Philly cheesesteak.
My experience, gleaned over those 4+ years, is this: if you ask 10 Philly residence to describe a "true" Philly cheesesteak, you will receive at least 12 different answers.
